RCBC Realty Corporation, which provides real estate development and management services under the Yuchengco Group of Companies (YGC), recently launched its bid to get a Gold Certification for RCBC Plaza from Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), a US-based verification practice for green buildings worldwide using the Existing Building Operations and Maintenance (EB:OM) rating system.
The LEED Certification, targeted for attainment int he last quarter of 2017, will be pursued through the internationally recognized green building consulting firm Barone International. The process entails the commitment of RCBC Plaza and its stakeholders to further improve the building’s performance and efficiency, reduce its environmental impact, and work on a greener, healthier environment for its occupants, guests, and the community.
RCBC Plaza is amongst the biggest, most modern buildings in Makati City, and was awarded 2nd runner-up in the prestigious ASEAN Energy Efficient Buildings Award in 2003.
The LEED launch ceremony was attended by Makati City Mayor Abby Binay-Campos, YGC Chairperson Helen Y. Dee, and RCBC Realty Corporation President Medel T. Nera. The ceremony held at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium was also attended by Consuls of Embassies and other building tenants.
